CT reveals an enhancing mass lesion involving the mid region of the right kidney, with perinephric fat stranding, and extension into the mid calyces and pelvis.
Diagnosis
Renal Cell Carcinoma
The classic trias of flank pain hematuria and palpable mass is infrequently seen, and the lesion is usually found on incidental imaging.
Association with Von Hippel Lindau and Tuberous Sclerosis is known.
On CT, lesions are isodense with central necrosis seen in larger lesions, and show variable enhancement, usually less than the normal cortex. The lesions are known to extend into the renal vein and ascend into the IVC.
